Description:

Poi spinning offers a curriculum link between sport, performance arts and history. Whilst encouraging creativity through expressive movement, Poi spinning stimulates both sides of the brain therefore improving bi-lateral motor skills.

Poi refers to both a style of performing art and the equipment used for engaging in poi performance. As a performance art, poi involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. Poi artists may also sing or dance while swinging their poi. Poi can be made from various materials with different handles, weights, and effects.

Learn how to spin fire!! It’s super fun and anyone can learn! COST: Without fire: $30 each OR $100 for four lessons. (50 minutes) Fire session: $60 (90 minute session – must be dark out) STYLES: Poi, Staff, Contact staff INFO: We will meet at Land Park or Southside Park. Lessons start without fire for the first lesson and lesson must be in daytime.
